When Socality challenged people to do a serving project on the topic of food, @dirka, @samciurdar and @amandaseeyoudarrr decided to rally the Southern California community by holding an Instameet with purpose. The hosts quickly got in touch with Path of Life Ministries to find out what specific need could be met in their area. Path of Life Ministries is a non-profit agency committed to serving the greater Riverside homeless, challenged youth and family population with the goal to rescue, restore and rebuild lives in the community. After talking with an area director it was determined that there was a need for non-perishable food for the fast approaching Thanksgiving holiday. With that in mind the hosts quickly developed a plan to hold an Instameet and Food Drive at Mt. Rubidoux the week before Thanksgiving.
The Instameet had over 75 Instagrammers who showed up with joyful hearts, their cameras and food to donate. Before hiking to the top, everyone gathered at the bottom of Mt. Rubidoux and filled a large SUV with bags of food. After the food collection, the Instagrammers started the 1.5 mile hike to the top, photographing each other along the way and finally capturing sunset together at the very top. After the instameet the hosts and a few others drove to Path of Life Ministries to drop off the food. It was a great time of meeting local Instagrammers and supporting our community.
