Whether you know it or not, you are a dreamer.
Why? Because you were created by God.
God is the greatest dreamer in the history of the universe. If you think about it, everything we see in creation was just thought up by God. He just dreamt all this up, and then spoke it into existence. Everything. Plants, animals, mountains, oceans, sunsets, stars—the weird processes in nature, like photosynthesis (seriously though—who thinks up something like photosynthesis? Plants making their own food from sunlight!?! That’s insane.)
And God thought up humans. He thought up you, he thought up me, he thought up billions and billions of people since the dawn of humanity. And the Bible tells us that humans are made in the image of this dreamer God (see Genesis 1:26). What does that mean? It means that you, too, are a dreamer, created to reflect this dreamer God. It’s in your DNA to dream. You were created by God to create, made by this big dreamer God to dream big.
At one point in the New Testament, the Apostle Paul says this when he prays for the church:
“Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us.” Ephesians 3:20
The word “imagine” can also be translated, “to think something up,” or “to dream.” Paul is presupposing that God’s people do two things: ask (i.e. pray), and dream. God wants you and me to constantly be dreaming of amazing ways that God can work his power in the world, through us, for his glory. And then to turn those dreams into prayers, praying to the God who is in the business of blowing our minds away by doing immeasurably more than we could ever ask or imagine.
At Socality, we have a dream of cultivating millions of dreamers all around the world, for the purpose of using community, creativity, and influence in order to connect people with the hope and love of God. We believe that every human being was created to dream, and that God wants to give you a dream for your life as you start to get creative and prayerful in a relationship with him. And not only that, but we dream of seeing countless dreamers begin to live out those God-given dreams as they step out in wild faith and courageous obedience.
