Some things you do for fun: On a relaxed day, you’ll usually find me doing one of four things for fun! Traveling, Spending time with friends and family (Quality time being my #1 Love Language), shopping, or at the lake in the Summer! I was born and raised in the South on the water and waterskiing is one of my favorites. Also I love reading/writing!
What pushed you to go into photography full time? I always credit my love for creativity and the arts to my mom. She’s extremely gifted at design and I believe she passed that love down to me. I always shot photos for fun until my freshman year of college. I scraped up all my money from high school graduation and bought a film camera ... began to shoot as a hobby ... which slowly turned to a side business. As I stepped into it more and more, the love for the art grew and so did the business. In 2008, I left my full time job and started Meshali Mitchell Photo. Since then, I’ve never looked back. One of the scariest and most fulfilling steps I’ve taken so far in my life.
Where are your favorite places to shop? If I had to pick a few favorites, I would say JCrew, Zara, and Ralph Lauren
How do you like your coffee? Always keep it simple (and probably too predictable) … Black Pike Place with Cream and 3 splenda.
What does your perfect day look like? My favorite thing is spending time with people I love! My perfect day would be hanging with close friends and family, grilling out, and Lots and Lots of Mexican Food. A huge house with a wrap around porch. People, people people … and lots of love.
What do you think the biggest lie of the Devil to this generation of young girls is? I believe the enemy not only lies to us about who we are, but also attempts to skew our view of who God is. There’s nothing that affects our lives more than who we really believe God to be. If we accept lies about who God is, that directly affects the view we have of ourselves and who we are in Him. A HEALTHY IDENTITY IS SO IMPORTANT. A strong Godly identity and knowing who we are in Christ is key to victorious living. The enemy has come on a mission to steal from us, kill us from the inside out, and destroy every God given destiny. The tool we use to combat his lies is the truth of God’s Word. By learning what our Heavenly Father says about us, we can fight the enemy’s lies and grow closer to Jesus.
What would you like your life message to be: My prayer is that my life would speak of Jesus and His Hope and healing power for this generation. Having been on a healing journey myself, I understand the pain of the wounded heart and believe whole-heartedly that Jesus is the remedy and His truth is the key that sets us free. There is life after defeat and through Jesus, there can be nothing missing, nothing broken. I believe that our past circumstances DO NOT have to define us or predict our future position. God has made us new and there is purpose behind every bit of pain we’ve experienced when we put it into God’s loving hands. There is NO LIMIT to what He can do through a generation of women fully surrendered to Him. God is in the processing with us, and He is writing beautiful stories all over this planet.
One of my favorite verses and life anthems is
“He heals the heartbroken and bandages their wounds. He counts the stars and assigns each a name. Our Lord is great, with limitless strength; we’ll never comprehend what he knows and does. God puts the fallen on their feet again.” Psalm 147:3
I love this, because it speaks of the Lord’s kind heart and unfathomable power. To a generation where many have been abandoned, bruised, and forgotten, His message to you is this: He hasn’t forgotten you. He knows you by name and wants daily relationship with you. The thought that the God of the universe wants relationship with us? How amazing is that! My prayer is that we reach out today and follow after Him with steadfast hearts and that we push through to fulfill our God given destinies.
Thank you for taking time to read a little excerpt from my heart to yours. I pray it ministered to you in some way! I pray the Lord meets you today right where you are at, wherever that is and speaks to you about His magnificent love for you. We’ll never be able to comprehend it all. Run the race! Blessings to all of you!
Love and Prayers,
