Sometimes gifts can be signposts of God’s faithfulness.
I help lead a men’s group at my church, Gateway Church. Through our single parent family ministry, we, along with a girls group, adopted, a single parent mom for Christmas. I’ll be honest with you things came together last minute for this. But what was so cool was to see God truly provide for this mom and her three kids. This mom, Emily, had just converted from Islam and had seemingly lost everything. In the span of three days we had over $800 come in from all directions. It was crazy. God was all over this one.
Our friends at Clothe Your Neighbor As Yourself donated $400 worth of new clothes for the winter season. That was a HUGE blessing. We were also able to pay for a few months of groceries, gifts for Christmas, auto insurance and of course a turkey.
I remember walking through the door to see half a Christmas tree and the shambles of furniture. From the looks of it you would think her family would be down. But you couldn’t help but see the joy written all over her and her kids faces and hearts. You knew God was doing a work in her life. Emily was able to share a little of her story with us. I’ll tell you she has drive and an entrepreneurial spirit like few I’ve met.
I thought I would walk away with this good feeling because we were able to help out. But instead I walked away with this overwhelming sense of God’s faithfulness. He is our Provider. He knows exactly what we need.
This was a truly incredible experience. Thank you again to all of those who gave to make this possible!
