Bob Dalton of Sackcloth and Ashes is a proud sponsor of Socality San Diego. Bob joined us at our last event in Portland in October 2014 where his business was only 6 months old. Bob came to our event with only 2K followers on the Instagram of Sackcloth and Ashes. Since then, Bob has seen his business explode through strong and healthy relationships.
For every blanket sold at Socality San Diego, one will be donated to the San Diego Rescue Mission. You can purchase it online or at the event. We caught up with Bob about what has been happening in his life since our last event.
Its been a big year for you! Can you share some of the highlights Sackcloth has seen?
Sackcloth & Ashes has provided over 3500 blankets to shelters in the United States and now is starting to donate internationally. I had the privilege to share the Sackcloth story and vision at the Annual Convention for Homeless Shelters this year to over 1500 leaders of shelters in the USA. That has been the greatest success to date.
How has your business grown since Socality PDX
Socality PDX was right before the holiday season and gave ton of exposure in a timeframe that was relevant to us. We have consistently grown ever since.
How did being involved with Socality PDX grow your business?
We made some great connections... I met a lot of key influencers that really really cared about the vision of Sackcloth and helped get us to the place where we are at. For that I will always be thankful.
Talk about your recent move and why?
My wife and I recently moved to San Diego for networking and speaking opportunities. Sackcloth & Ashes stayed in Oregon, where all of the production and shipping happens.
Can you share a story on how Sackcloth has impacted a life?
A story that really moved me was from a gal who shot us a DM on Instagram of a picture of her three cute kids. Her message read:
"Your mother so reminds me of myself all these years I help everything together for those three monkeys in the picture - they are my everything. Until now it seems as if my walls are all caving in. I don't know how I came across your IG account.. I guess you could call it chance or luck.. But to read that about your mother gave me hope again and I hope that my kids will one day realize everything I've done for them... Thank you and tell your mom thank you. Keep blessing lives and touching hearts..."
What is one encouragement you could give to someone starting their own company?
Belief is everything. If you have the power of belief nothing can stop you from achieving your idea. No financial problem - no criticism - no opposition can keep you from it. If you believe in it, believe in yourself, believe in something bigger than yourself, it's only a matter of time that you will be walking in the reality of what you want.
