Join us on Monday, December 11th for an online Socality x Canon Creator Lab workshop and Q&A with creator, TikToker, and filmmaker Tope Babalola (@tope_babalola) alongside creator hosts Scott Bakken (@scottcbakken) and Chloe Chapdelaine (@chloe.chapdelaine) as they unpack Tope’s unique creative journey from film student to TikTok (2M+ followers) and YouTube success to award-winning short films and more. Along the way they’ll dig into specific and practical advice for marketing yourself as a creator - from building a community around your unique story to standing out and establishing authority, to marketing yourself to clients and brands.

This session will cover themes including but not limited to:

  • Lessons from Tope’s personal story - from film school to TikTok star to filmmaking, Tope has learned a lot about the many paths to realizing a creative dream and has lots to share from his own creator journey.

  • Standing Out - Understanding the trends and changes in the social media space and how to stay on the front foot to make the most of the tools at your disposal.

  • Establishing Authority - Being strategic in your positioning, getting clear on your goals, and establishing your unique voice.

  • Building a community around your story - Nurturing the audience, customers, and clients that engage with you - developing your skills in creating a more personal connection with your personal brand and creative business.

  • Establishing consistency & understanding what works for you - Tactics for testing and developing your audience building techniques - when do you double down, and when do you experiment and test?

  • Taking them deeper - Discussing the user journey of your audience and how to translate that into a more personal connection with you and your personal brand or creative business.

  • Creating Value - From educating, to entertaining, to inspiring - what does that look like practically? And how do you create what you love while also creating work that has commercial viability?

  • Marketing Yourself to Brands & Clients - Discussing the practical strategies and techniques that have worked to commercialize and build alignment with clients and brand partners.
